Dr. Ernst Granneman, executive scientist at ASM International
Ernst Granneman studied Applied Physics at the Tehnical University Delft from 1964-1970. After Military Service he worked at the FOM Institute for Atomic & Molecular Physics in Amsterdam from 1972-1984. In 1976 he received his PhD on 'Multiphoton Ionization of Alkali atoms'. From 1976 to 1984 he was group leader of the Plasma Physics group of the Institute. In 1984 he joined ASM Europe as manager R&D. In that capacity he was responsible for the development of new types of equipment and CVD processes for that division of ASM International. After 1987 he held several management positions at ASM, including CTO of ASM International and Business Unit Manager of the RTP product line. Since 2005 he is Executive Scientist, involved with various different types of projects. He has been advisor for MAPPER since 2002.
Dr. Maarten Buijs, Director at FEI
Maarten Buijs studied chemistry at the University of Utrecht and obtained there his PhD in laser-spectroscopy of condensed matter in 1987. Subsequently he did a two-year postdoc at Harvard University in the area of ultrafast spectroscopy, where he built a CPM femtosecond laser. He returned to the Netherlands to join Philips Research in Eindhoven, starting as a research scientist in materials science, then spending two years at Philips Research in Briarcliff Manor (NY) working on the first green laser diodes, continuing his work in Eindhoven at the Corporate Research bureau of Philips before becoming a department head in 1998. His department covered the areas of heat, solid state mechanics, fluid mechanics and later also electron-optics. In 2003, he joined FEI in Eindhoven, first as the R&D manager for TEM, then became the director of FEI R&D in Eindhoven and at present acts as the director for the product group SEM/SDB.
Dr. Neil Richardson, Senior Director at KLA Tencor

From 1982-1985 he was a member of the technical staff at the Fairchild Semiconductor Research Laboratories in Palo Alto, California. From 1985 to 1991 he founded and served as general manager of the Diagnostic Systems Division of Schlumberger technologies in San Jose, California. In this role he managed the development and launch of an electron-beam based diagnostic system for VLSI devices. He moved back to California in 1993 to join KLA in San Jose as general manager of the Metrology Division. He was responsible for the overlay product business, overseeing engineering and manufacturing in Israel, and subsequently the development of a CD SEM product line in San Jose. From 1998 to 2001, he became executive vice president responsible for all KLA-Tencor's metrology product divisions. He subsequently also managed the electron-beam inspection product line. From 2002 to present he has worked in various staff positions exploring new business opportunities across a variety of fields including semiconductor and life sciences equipment. Neil has represented KLA-Tencor at MAPPER shareholders and technical advisory board meetings since 2002. Neil is also a venture partner at Wellington Partners GmbH in Munich, Germany.
Dr. Kurt Ronse, Director Advanced Lithography Program at IMEC
Kurt Ronse received both Master of Science and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Leuven (Belgium). He joined the lithography group in IMEC in 1990, specializing in the field of phase shifting masks, off-axis illumination techniques and CD control optimization. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications and is a frequent conference speaker, often times presenting invited and plenary papers, in the field of optical lithography (I-line, deep-UV, 193nm, 193nm immersion) and EUVL. Currently Kurt holds the position of lithography department director at IMEC, where he is responsible for the Advanced Lithography Program covering 193nm immersion, double patterning and EUV lithography.
